Find Care & Housing
I don't think you're losing brain cells ventingisback, more like you've lost the bandwidth to give a d@mn.
One thing that has helped me with impulsive eating is to have a healthier alternative available; so pre-cut veggies and dip, popcorn instead of chips, that kind of thing. And lately I've been putting together snack mixes made from various dry breakfast cereals with some peanuts or pretzels or mini crackers mixed in. It's still snacking but it's better than hitting the high fat high salt stuff.

Ventingisback,

You weren’t smarter when you were younger. It’s that the type of stress is different now.
We have more control over our own lives when we are younger , as opposed to when you are dealing with caregiving , and the flying monkeys.

Cwillie, thanks! Yeah…I definitely don’t mean that I’m losing brain cells. Haha. I just mean, from an eating point of view, I was smarter. I truly think I have a lot to learn from my younger self. Haha.

Waytomisery, you’re absolutely right, the type of stress we face now is totally different (less control now). And you’re totally right: I’m also facing a gang of flying monkeys! And I know, the reason I’m stress eating now is that I’ve never faced as much stress as now.

I wish us all courage. I do hope I get rid of my bad eating habit soon. HUG.

Venting,
Don’t be too hard on yourself. Us caregivers are allowed to have few bad habits.
Mine in addition to huge amounts of chocolate are cookies lately.
And after not having any wine for at least months I quite enjoy few glasses lately as well.
Maybe I just get more wine, I used to like bold red glass or two of vino and good box of chocolates. Maybe better than boxes of cookies?

Thanks Evamar! Cookies, I love cookies! And chocolate. I’m just like you. Lately, I’ve been binge eating pistacchio nuts. Oh and I love drinking sugary drinks.

One simple method I heard, to stop my bad habit, is just not to buy these things: don’t keep them in the house.

I've been doing holiday snacking since December. It is now April 2.

My knee and hand arthritis pain is definitely spiking from the holiday snacking of sweets, carbs and cheese.

As of today I'm back to my anti inflammatory food regimen.

Brandee, holiday snacking since December! Haha, me too!

Which December, by the way? For me, since December 2010! Haha.

Too funny, Venting.

I've been eating anti-inflammatory for the last several days. Right knee pain is now "0" after 8 weeks of pain. Yea! Hand arthritis pain is maybe 70% improved. I think it will get better with more days of anti inflammatory eating.

Sadly I've been diagnosed with an IBD for 15 years and the OTC pain meds are contraindicated for me so I have to get creative with pain reduction/management.

My out of control snacking time is always in the evening. I eat well during the day. I think I need to plan for a snack/dessert for between dinner and bedtime. Anti-inflammatory of course. LOL.

Something was making a clawing noise inside the a/c vents last night.
Or it could have been inside the wall.
Dh would not wake up at 1:30 a.m. for this event.

Choices are: Skunk, rat, possum, squirrel, possum had babies?

Am I being dramatic to be concerned?

Brought it up tonight, he says he is contemplating it.

Send - I know that even a little mouse can sound as big as an elephant when they get inside, especially at 1:30 in the morning, so setting a mouse trap might be prudent.

Dh is still contemplating it.

I will have to call someone for help.

But thanks CWillie. We have an owl living outside that has never allowed any
rodents.

We are going to batten down the hatches, so to speak, check all entry points after
that huge wind storm.
