Mom has a load of other medical issues too. But this It's driving me NUTS! ALL I KNOW IS SHE talks then forgets, repeats everything, she is vulgar now, tells me I'M horrible, then she don't know me hurts my heart! But it's a nerve wrecking home to live with this! My children are sad, scared and mad! She is sweet very rarely. She orders me to jump and go to my grown sisters ridiculous Problems! She literally. Seems crazy, but she is my mom & I LOVE her! I don't know how to deal with this either!

blannie, I was writing while you were posting. I can't believe that our minds thought of almost the exactly same things. It must be good advice, Chryssy. :)

cryssy, the most common form of dementia is Alzheimer's. So if your mother has Alzheimer's, she has dementia. One thing you can do is learn about the disease and what to do. Teepa Snow has some very helpful videos on You Tube. Watch the things she makes available and see if they help you understand the personality changes you are seeing in your mother. Reading here also helps. Check on www.alz.org for discussion of the stages of Alzheimer's so that you'll know what to expect. It is a hard journey, but one that more and more people are travelling. Big hugs coming your way in starting the journey.

Cryssy, Alzheimers is a form of dementia. There are many threads on here about Alzheimers. If you click on "Senior Living" above, you'll see information about Alzheimers. Also you'll find a section on Alzheimers under "Elder Care" at the top of the page.

You need to start reading and educating yourself for what is ahead. Also go to youtubedotcom and look for Teepa Snow videos about dealing with a loved one with dementia.

At some point, your mom may need to be put in to memory care, for her safety and the sake of your children and yourself. You'll get lots of support here from people who understand what you're going through. The number one thing I could suggest is that you need to put your children and yourself at the top of the list in terms of priority. Mom comes after you and your children. Don't let her wreak havoc on your childrens' lives or your life.
