Switched my mom to a Geriatric Doctor. Expressed my care wishes with the geriatric doctor. My mom is in stage 7 dementia, but not yet ready for hospice. Filled out an MOLST form. She has had a full time AID for almost two years. Decision is pallative care at this stage.

Find Care & Housing
Palliative will not get extra care and it is not hospice. So no comfort measures. Choosing palliative will still treat what can be treated but not go over the top.

Is your Mom in a home or in a facility? I'm asking because sometimes people have only a general idea of what hospice involves when it's in the home, which is their family caregivers are usually still doing most of the hands-on care yet the hospice team and volunteers may be there but only administering the meds and observing. My MIL was in LTC for 7 years in a great facility and she had excellent hospice care there.

Sounds like you have your ducks in a row now, so time to just enjoy whatever time you may have left with your mom and quit worrying about what may lie ahead.
