I am in a vicious cycle/circle! How can I find a card my mom can use to buy things when the cards require a 4-digit pin? Mom can't remember her pin. Checks are being refused more and more or the merchant doesn't know how to process them! Help!

There is a company in the US called True Link which offers debit cards (pinless) especially for dementia patients. The family sets up where they can/cannot use it and balance limits, transfers money as needed, etc.
I just got one for my mom so she can buy things at the store without asking her caregiver for money. So far so good.

Mom may be now in a state where she can no longer shop alone and for herself.
Is she in care? What you may need to do here is what basically I did with my brother with most purchases; he told me weekly what he needed and I sent stuff via Amazon to his ALF.

Don't you have contactless payment cards available there? (tap and go)....
although I have to question whether someone who can't remember their 4 digit PIN is really competent to be shopping on their own. Online grocery orders are worth considering.
