Usually spouses don't get paid, unless your spouse can pay you. Otherwise, check with your State Medicaid (different from Medicare) office to see if hubby can qualify for Medicaid. Depending on your State (each State has their own rules/regulations) your State may have a program where a spouse can be paid.

Please note, if your State has such a program, it may be minimum wage for a few hours each week.

If your husband is a Veteran the VA can now pay Spouses to care for the Veteran. If he is a Veteran contact the local Veterans Assistance Commission or your States Department of Veteran's Affairs or the VA and see if he would qualify for any benefits.

Compensation usually comes from the patient. Since this is your husband, probably not a net add.
However, if Dh is a vet he might be eligible for aid and attendance comp if he meets all the criteria.

You could contact your Area Agency on Aging and ask for a case worker to discuss any benefits available for him. These benefits can vary by state or even community.
