Are there any telltale signs anyone has seen in someone prior to death that had diabetes that made you think something was not right that justified what you might have thought prior to their death, anyone?

Again, I am quite worried about this person. A very confused posting was the last posted, and indicative of a diabetic crisis. Since then the poster has been heard from, and I hope will post to us if OK. We have no way of knowing.

Alva I’m alive I am just feeling different at times like I’m slowly fading out of existence I’ve got pain In shoulders I can’t rid ,inflammation, but also know I’ve got bad rotator cuffs as well as disks in spine that need repaired, but this pain is different than nerve pain it’s dull an a pain in my butt ,but overall I don’t. Feel like everything Is right!

For those that don’t. Know I’m type 1 FDA diabetic? I know I am but not from genes had to go on disability in 2011 from back surgeries, walked away from a great job to become nothing I was depressed I drank bad for a few yrs pancreatitis became a problem probably got a doR. Or more times all requiring hospital stays for up to a week was told if did not stop this would happen It would shut down and no longer produce insulin and it finally showed up in 2014 it does not create 1 ounce of insulin so reversal I’m sure is nill? My life has become one problem after another, until 2 years ago back got bettter threw away the OxyContin that ran my life stopped drinking. But now this I feel it’s a lost cause I fight through and stay positive but I know what I’ve done to myself, the damage Is done and I lived through death experience experience in 2017 returning with feeling I lived cause god had something for me to finish,be it a word an action I don’t know but I’m feeling it’s time and it’s done,I’m 57 ,times flying I’ve lived through much truly in the school of hard knocks a tough rough hard knocks I’ve lived 9 lives, really! I t just took much damage along the way ,god loves me I’m sure feels pity on me for having so much inside of me and wasting it I could have been so great had I not got into the wrong groups but being poor growing up the neighborhoods didn’t offer much posative even though i looked for it the negative outweighed it!
I’m sorry for worrying u all but I’m looking for answers I allready know just have to except that. You reap what you sow,we all will meet death it’s when you come to that bridge you see all the time you wasted,if you did, life truly flew and their are no second chances at this stage I’m upset with me that’s all knowing not friends, family or circumstances in life just me I had my chances no excuses! I hope if someone reads this and is seeing time wasted and continue to waste it ,Don’t,it’s too precious more than we know till you get here in life, I’m tired been a long road I dong like where the worlds going it’s so out of balance god help us all ,I know I am great full for the fact I never had to be a kid today I wish them Godspeed they’ll need it! Sorry for reaching out for answers I knew like I said,I know I don’t make much sense and I’ll probably confuse you even more but it’s ok I’m done whining just trying to fix the confusion I caused with only more confusion it’s the story of my life and I apologize for it ! I wish all of you the best with your problems maybe someday we’ll meet I’m sure we will! I’m fine and ready if it’s to be if not I’ll keep fighting till it is!!! all my prayers, all my love!🙂

Mikeil, I read your last posting and it sounded like a diabetic crisis. Your confusion is due to your out of whack diabetes, not Alzheimer's. Please call EMS. If you are OK, please let us know. None of us have any way to reach out to you and several of us are very worried about you.

I assume you mean type 2 diabetes.

so...for starters, the condition is the result of ever escalating insulin resistance. Basically, as the glucose in the blood continues to climb, the cells reach a point of over saturation of fat (insulin takes glucose out of the blood and store it as fat). As the cells begin to resist more fat storage, the level of insulin needed to force the cells to take more escalates. Causing more resistance...causing more insulin. Till finally the pancreas cannot produce enough. That is type 2 diabetes. The usual treatment is to begin insulin injections (the obvious answer is to figure out why there is so darn much sugar in the blood (glucose) and stop it....but, that is not what is done, (Duh)

so...with that much insulin in the blood...lots and lots of inflammation is created. Now, inflammation is the signal and trigger for the immune system to rush to the scene and start triage. This is to grab cholesterol and start building bandaids (because the immune system is reacting to damage from a battle between infection and white blood cells....except that wasn’t the reason for the inflammation). The cholesterol using any calcium available to build these patches. So, next...cholesterol and calcium begin to build hardening in the arteries (and other soft tissue).

the most common result is heart attack and stroke.

it is a total misconception to blame the cholesterol for what the insulin did.

huge numbers of studies have been done in these last 5 years....all published in the most reputable science journals ... don’t take my word for it....go look at the science.....

Mikeil......can you call 911 and have the paramedics take you to the Emergency Room right away, please? Your blood sugar is likely very out of whack right now and you can't think clearly, based on your last comment. Please make the call and get some help right away!

I am not sure what you mean. Patients can and DO dies of either too high blood sugar or too low blood sugar. The symptoms of hypo/hyperglycemia are simple to learn and easy to get on your search engine. People can take too much insulin, eat too little food, take too little insulin, eat too little or too much. The circumstances vary. This would be on a type I insulin dependent adult.
Now, as to how and when people die of diabetes, a quick overview on a search engine will give you good ideas on the complications of diabetes. They are a multitude of deadly things. Diabetes effects ALL of the major systems in the body, circulatory, kidney, heart. To say nothing of the fact that circulatory problems allow for the non-healing of peripheral injuries and ulcers that can go systemic. Diabetes is difficult to manage and difficult to treat with any certainty and predictability.
Your best answers will come from simply googling the subject. Use the phrases "symptoms of diabetes", "complications of diabetes" and "hyperglycemia" and "hypoglycemia. You will be reading a while, but you will get a good overview that may answer what your specific question of concern is.
Good luck.

I am trying to make sense of your question. I read your profile and it looks like you are talking about your own Diabetes and your decision to 'cheat' on your diet.

Al, my late neighbour chose death by eating, he had terrible ulcers on each of his legs, a heart condition worsened by unregulated blood sugar and was morbidly obese. I would go visit him and he would be drinking Coke, eating mini doughnuts and other sugar filled treats. He knew what he was doing, he no longer wanted to live.

My former mil has been very mindful of her diet since being diagnosed in 1993, when she was 58 years old. After about 15 years diet and tablets were not enough to keep her blood sugars in check and she has been on insulin. She has continued to be very careful in her eating habits, but for the past 5 or 6 years has been suffering from diabetic neuropathy which is incredibly painful. Her blood pressure has been elevated for decades which places her at great risk for stroke or heart attack. At 84 she is ready for assisted living, but her sons are not willing to help her get there.

Her brother died of a heart attack when he was 69. He had uncontrolled diabetes and was an alcoholic who would drink a 24 of beer in a day or two. Uncle thought putting ice cubes in is Rye was the cause of his high blood sugar.

Diabetes can impact kidney function and dialysis is often in the future. Traveling to a dialysis clinic 3 times a week to sit there for hours at a time.

Foot care is incredibly important for people with Diabetes and a simple wound can lead to a leg being amputated. I saw that more than once when I worked for the Podiatrists. Seniors would not think it was an issue until their bone was exposed or rotten through, then it would be took late.

I am not sure if any of this answers your question, but it is what I have seen when people who Diabetes do or do not manage their diet.
