All answers are a good idea, however we have found if the patient is wearing any type of polyester it will withstand the scent of any type of bodily discharge including urine, menstrual fluid, it does sound disgusting, however it is a god awful scent, stay with extra pair of clothing always and a plastic bag to dispense the old soiled items. Any type of natural cleaning agents should help and of course ventilation of some kind, fan or fresh air. Good luck. and god bless to the glory years of growing old.

Take the patient to the bathroom regularly.
Use disposable briefs at all times with booster pad liners.
Change briefs frequently after checking for wetness.
Use waterproof mattress pad and large disposable chucks from Medline on furniture. You can get them on Amazon.
