Find Care & Housing
Clearly her dementia is catching up to her. Unfortunately your POA cannot be used to put her in a nursing home or ALF. You would need to have a judge declare her incompetent and appoint you as her Guardian. Some ALF's allow pets, some don't. Maltese has a breed rescue organization, but the owner has to willingly give up the dog, and chances are she won't. So you, like many of us, have to sit and wait for her to fall and break a hip and be totally immobilized. Good luck.

Also mom is a compulsive shopper since Dad died. She always enjoyed shopping but now it's gotten bad. I wish I could upload pictures of her house. Every room is CHOCK FULL of candle holders, art, flowers, stuffed animals, vases, lamps. Lamps are on the floor! Magazines a mile high. No junk, but too much china, cups, bowls, everything. She has to move 10 items just to do her laundry and get the lid of the washer able to be opened. It's awful. When I walk in there I feel like turning around and running back across the street to my own house where I can turn around and breathe with my arms extended. She is compensating for dad's death in 2009 with spoiling Bella rotten, and overshopping. Her closets are packed with new with tag clothing and she does not want to social with anyone and threatens to move away from me if I get a job or if I insist she socialize. I am her full power of attorney (health, finances, durable) but I am scared if I make her change these aspects of her life, even a little, she has threatened to write me out of the will. I am an only child! I'm hyperventilating typing this... lol. could use some suggestions.
