My mom has been in a facility for 2 1/2 years. She complains periodicaly that they dont check her sugar enough or if they do check it and she does need insulin they just ignore her or give her just alittle bit. I have complained numerous times to the director and the head nurse and any other nurse I can talk to. If she is not getting enough insulin overtime and she is 82 and has had diabetes for 40 years what will this do to her overtime if she really is not getting the proper amount. I need to know what will start happening to her if they still won't cooperate and give the amount they should.
ALs rely on Doctor orders. They must comply with those orders. The Nurse does not have the ability to change them. She or an LPN dispenses the med. There are Medtechs that have been trained to give meds.
You say “periodically”. How often? Mom could very well be forgetful about it as in forget that someone was just there to check it.
I agree with asking the staff to review her BS/insulin administration record. It’s probably all there.
