I wanted to know if they will do the same for Alzheimer patients, so I'm starting my own personal journey into this issue. I came across this article at Alzheimers.org:
https://www.alzinfo.org/treatment-care/blogs/2011/08/alzheimers-credit-card-dilemma/
If the card will be in "Mr. ConnieCaretaker's" name and this is a new card, new account not sure if you can legally open a new account in his name if he is no longer cognizant, opening an account is a contract and he may not legally be able to enter into a contract.
I would talk to Chase and see what they say.
Opening an account in your child's name you are guaranteeing that you will pay if the child defaults. Would you do the same for an adult with dementia?
I would be very cautious of getting a card for someone with dementia particularly if there are going to be purchases that I was unaware of.
