Get the 36 Hours a Day book. It's a great source of information.

If you have time to read, "the 36 hours day" and "learning to speak Alzheimer" are great books. This forum was very helpful for me. The sites other suggested are also great. Keep your sense of humor and compassion, Good luck!

Please contact the Alzheimer's Association website and your local chapter. It has information and support and resources for caregivers for those living with Alzheimer's and other dementia. Go to alz.org
Also in connection with AARP an online tool can help you find programs and services in your area alz.org/crf

Welcome Pulelehua,

See that symbol that looks like a magnifying glass at the top of the page? Click on that and it will open a search bar. Type in your topic and you will get a bunch of discussions and information from caregivers who have responded in the past.

The only advice I can give you is know your limitations. When your parents require more than you can provide, there are options. This is why care homes exist. There are several levels of care available; Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing facilities.

You can always come back to this forum and ask about a specific challenge you are having. You will find others who can relate and share how they dealt with it.

APOLOGIES!! I’m not asking for ANY of You Lovely, Generous, Way Overworked Caregivers to “Re-Create ANY Wheels of Info”! ;)

Maybe someone would kindly just point me in the direction of where this type of info probably already exists!

MAHALO!!!!!
