Simply this: I appreciate this site IMMENSELY !!!... But we now seem to live in an "ABBREVIATED' age... Yet not everyone who reads this site knows what every abbreviation used in Questions means... I think most readers who do not know the used Abbreviation, will just not bother to read further or react to it.!
"Aging-Care" -personnel: Could you please have a permanent request printed on your site for "questioners" to have the courtesy to fully write out the word, the 1st time it is used, then put the Abbreviation in parenthesis next to the word. Thereafter the meaning of the abbreviation is known to the reader throughout the rest of the text. ...
This has become "courtesy protocol" in business correspondence and here it should be required, because your readers live in such a large country that terminology and names can be different in Alaska, compared to the same thing in Texas....... Your Attention to this matter would surely be appreciated by many readers, as your subject matter discussed here is becoming ever more important and the help you offer is needed by many elderly
I am now asking for an explanation for " APS " - it is not found in Google either.... Thank you for listening ! DHilBe.

Looking at T-shirts with sayings on them, there is this abbreviation:
W.T.F.
After Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says W.T.F.

corinna, you are not alone. I prefer to use a keyboard, too.

I've almost given up trying to TEXT, and I wind up with letters from the rows above or below the letter I want to use. I could take me 10 minutes to type out one sentence due to going back to correct wrong letters, etc. Or I just give up.

Now my TEXT is just one word... yes, no, ok.

Thank you all for taking the time to write answers to this question. It has been "getting my goat" ever since I started following this site. ;-) I'd like to know how many people who follow this site "TEXT". I can type 98 words per minute (WPM) on a keyboard, but that is done with all fingers, I just can't get the hang of "typing" with my thumbs at my ripe old age. Thus I don't know all the acronyms. THANK YOU AGAIN!

One of my favourites is pita... no, not the bread. Having to type p-i-t-a or p.i.t.a or p-i-t-a** for those who can't figure this out takes up too much of my time, and THAT is also a pita!

This is a very funny thread. I liked it when I read the whole thing a day ago, instead of trying to help someone. It lifted my mood.

I recommend reading it.

SNAFU - situation normal all f**ked up.

Interesting I always knew it meant that a wrench had been thrown into something, unanticipated problems. Never thought that it may be an acronym, or have its origination in the military. Makes me wonder where I would have heard it first. Maybe that 5th grade math teacher, retired military, and he had a way about him. But I learned more from him that year than through all of elementary school.

Which brings up another narc sis story, sorry.. She and I got into an argument about three years ago she stating that this teacher was abusive. Good grief, course what else would you expect from someone that cries at the drop of a hat, or a champagne toast offered to celebrate another relatives 45th wedding anniversary.

ADLH - nooo… it's not the name of a new disease - it's short for …
" Ach Du Lieber Himmel "… … translates to "Good Grief" I thought my gripe-text about "Abbreviations are getting my Goat !" had died a merciful death of neglect weeks ago…
Yet when I finally had time to look at Aging Care again - I guess it's still alive and still abbreviating …hahaha… + still providing that daily "giggle" … us oldies need more than ever…with so many depressing situations happening in our lives and in the world, I guess I want to thank Aging Care
for not having throttled the life out of this part of the blog…….
Now "Captain" - Sir - - 50 some years back my hubby - rest his soul - was also in the US Army, and I still remember the phrase SNAFU and that it meant : " you goofed " --- but can't remember the actual words that make up SNAFU…. hmmm - hope they are clean enough to be cited here !
May I bother you, or anyone, to provide that answer to that ABBREVIATION ? Wishing everyone well !
