Hi! Any advice on how to keep the duvet cover in place during the night?

Elderly person lives at home with family.

Elderly person rolls around in bed all night and is unable to make sure the duvet cover stays in position. Sometimes the person is uncovered.

Buy a duvet cover one size larger than the size of the bed, make a knot on each of the two lower corners of the cover, then tuck that knots under either side of the mattress.

The weight of the sleeper will keep the knotted corners in place and the sleeper can turn over without disturbing the covers.

I have a queen sized bed and always buy king sized blankets and quilts for exactly this purpose.

Maybe warmer pajamas if Ann's solution doesn't work.

Have you thought about trying a weighted blanket? This would definitely stay in place and might even keep this person from rolling around so much. Plus they may actually get a better nights sleep too.
A win win all the way around.

Careful with the weighted blanket. Hubby wanted one back when they were very popular. He has bad knees. And turning and moving was a bit difficult, and painful.and then it would actually slide off the bed.
They come in different weights. I think this one was 20 pounds. It had a slippery feel to it, possibly to keep the sand or whatever they use. Anyway, I donated it.
Maybe I got the wrong weight or manufacturer.

I bought one of those Better Bedder fabric bands (saw it on Shark Tank / my father LOVED Shark Tank so he was all in on trying it) - it goes around the side of the mattress to hold sheets/blankets in place - worked great. You could pull up enough slack of the duvet cover so your LO could get under, but the duvet cover edges would not pull out of the band.

hereiam: Renove it and use a bed covering and/or blankets that can be tucked in at the bottom.

I've noticed that hospital blankets don't slip around the way my home stuff does. They are somehow both light and heavy. Can these be purchased on the regular consumer market?

Lots of stuff out there on Amazon and other online marketplaces. Look up "blanket fasteners" online. Good luck.

Take it off.
Get blankets that will tuck in at the bottom of the bed.
(This is what I need to do).

No need for the Duvet Cover. Donate it to a shelter for women, with kids. They could really use this.

And count your blessings if that is your / their only problem! Gena

staples?
I don’t think there’s much you can do if a person is a sleep flipper, flopper, or roller. Maybe they are in discomfort, and gets restless.. my hubby just looked at the bed tonight and started complaining.. I looked at him, and said.. WHAT!! You’re the only one in there last night, I started snoring, and went to the other room.. ni, I didn’t make the bed this morning.. but he wanted to blame me… somehow.. oh well.

As long as private areas are covered and person is warm enough, do not fret about the covers. If need be, get warmer pajamas and socks/footies with non-slip pads on the bottoms.
