The strokes left her wheelchair bound and unable to speak. I cannot work full time because she cannot be left alone for an extended amount of time. I believe that she does not qualify for medicaid, and was wondering if there are any other programs that pay the care giver of elderly parents.I have been doing this since she had her stokes around 9 years ago and really need some financial help. My sister has POA and she doesn't know who to ask either for help. My mom does get her retirement and Social Security but that just about covers the food for the month, her medicine and her everyday needs. I hope that someone can point me in the right direction.

From what I know, if she isn't on medicaid then it's her responsibility to pay you. I'm in your situation .. 10 plus years now. Not only does she not give me a penny, she constantly reminds me that I am living in HER HOUSE !! I don't know how I let myself get into this mess. If I had it to do all over I would have put myself first. Never again .. Never

Hellcat, does your Mother not have any resources that she can pay you with? Does she have life insurance, so that eventually you would get reimbursed?

I think you are going to have to call Medicaid and find out for certain, if she qualifies.
