Some people on the forum recommend Acorn stairlifts. I don’t know about coverage from insurance. Maybe others will know. Can you check with your policy to see if it is covered?

Best wishes for you.

This seems to be the contact number for your county's service for older people: 315-435-2362

Give them a call, and they should be able to advise you on how you can get a stairlift installed. They may also suggest other ways to help keep yourself secure and comfortable at home. Good for you for taking the initiative! I hope you find useful help very soon.

Generally, stairlifts are not covered by insurance or government programs. There maybe exceptions. You pay the cost yourself. You don’t need anything from the doctor. I had one installed about 3 years ago. The total cost was about $9000.00. I got a $3000.00 grant from my deceased husband’s former employer. My stairway had one landing with one turn. Landings and turns influence price. A friend had a straight stairway and his was about $5500.00.
