My mother was in a rehab hospital which is connected to the hospital that she went t0 when she had the stroke. She has some bad confusion kept getting out of bed. So They discharged her even when see has a feeding tube [yet still eating on her own] because she wished it. She cant stand up hardly on her own. They didn't send her with any medical equipment or anything. Since the beginning it been left up to me to know what best. She may be in danger at the house. What do I need to do??
My mother is now home. She can barely get around and is angry. Still has a feeding tube and yet eating on her own. There are no rails, ramps, no wheelchair. The case workers released her, I'm an hour away, the only help they have left her with is her roommate. He will eventually have to go to work
They were supposed to let us know about medical equipment but we have to wait on a case worker to call back.. I've looked around, nothing I can afford, the person who got her in the door told me they don't do the therapy were they show me or her roommate what to do. (How to help) till the end...
This did not happen.. in the mean time she is not going to make this easy because she is just independent but she doesn't seem to think so.. this is going to be
You don't seem to have a question for us. I am assuming your Mom is not demented. I hope you will check on her to ascertain how things are going for her. I hope she has a caseworker involvement ongoing who will check as well. I wish you the best. Update us if you have any questions you think we can perhaps give any help with. Best of luck.
Here is the post the OP wrote 14 hrs ago saying her 54 y/o mother had a stroke!
Your post trails off as well, so this whole matter is confusing!
If it were me and this was my mother, I think I'd take some time off of work, go down to where she lives, scope out the entire situation, then call 911 to get her readmitted to the hospital if you think her condition warrants it. At the very least, she needs a 20 day stint in rehab which would be paid for by Medicare if the order is written by her doctor or hospitalist from the hospital. Again, the PT and the OT department would work with her to get her strong again to where she could go home and function independently again; that would be the goal, anyway. What's happening now sounds dangerous b/c she's in no frame of mind or physical condition to be at home with no medical equipment, and with a feeding tube in place!!!
