Find Care & Housing
Is this person of sound mind? If so, you can discuss with him using adult personal care items (pads, diapers). Also, I have gotten my Mom into the habit of going to the bathroom whenever she gets up for anything...like going to the kitchen. This way she emptys her bladder before any nasty accidents happen. This is also good for preventing UTIs, etc.
good luck

IF HE IS AMBULATORY, TAKE HIM TO THE BATHROOM EVERY TWO HOURS.
AND I AGREE WITH LILLIPUT ABOUT THE ADULT DIAPERS. DON'T FORGET TO EXPLAIN TO HIM THAT HE IS" NOT " WEARING BABY DIAPERS AT THE SAME TIME YOU CAN LET HIM KNOW IT IS TO KEEP HIM CLEAN AND FREE OF ODORS THAT ARE OFFENSIVE TO OTHERS AND HIS SURROUNDINGS.
I HAVE HAD PRETTY GOOD LUCK WITH THIS IN MY FORMER CAREGIVING.
AND MOST OF ALL SHOW THAT YOU REALLY CARE AND DON'T GIVE UP.

But this happens when he is doing the bathroom thing, not before. And he abhors the diaper aspect. He goes to the bathroom on his own, just doesn't do it properly. Misses with the onset of urge and not in the proper place! I don't mind the clean up, just, I am in a rent house and don't want to continue messing up the floor-wood.

My father had ulcerative colitis. My brother had to pull him aside and tell him to wear diapers. He was getting poop all over "everything". He finally saw the light. Have your husband checked for everything. My father did not survive this.
