We will be heavily impacted by Beryl, on the periphery of the forecast cone. From past experiences as a lifetime Gulf Coast resident, I can tell you power outage for days, perhaps a week is likely. I live 10 miles from my hoarder, personality disordered mother, 76. Just crossing my fingers it’s not as bad as I expect, and that she has no damage on her uninsured house, and no need for her to stay at mine.Any stay , if we had power and she didn’t for example, would be on a very temporary basis. The heat here is awful, her bp runs low, and dehydration would be a real danger for her. I won’t stay in hers. I do plan to check on her. I hate that she’s now on my problem list for hurricanes. Just another delightful part of my situation. What’s really annoying is we’ve just purchased a whole house generator, but the electrician is awaiting a few more parts and some permitting stuff. We just waited too late to decide and we are getting an unusual July storm.
if nothing else, she has a severe mental illness (2 actually) that could qualify her for a bed in a psychiatric facility.
I go through that on a much lesser scale during snowstorms. First your angry then your worried I get it
I have a son in Austin, not such a worry there but still a concern.
Take care of yourself, I'm thinking of y'all, hoping for everyone's safty.
Let us know how things are going, Best of luck.
